漢方薬は安全ですか？

漢方薬も医薬品であり、体質や体調に合わない場合には副作用が起こることがあります。「自然由来だから安全」ということはありません。日本で市販されている漢方薬（OTC）は、医薬品として国の承認を受けており、パッケージや添付文書に効能・効果、用法・用量、使用上の注意が記載されています。お使いになる際は添付文書をよく読み、気になることがあれば薬剤師にご相談ください。

西洋薬と併用できますか？

組み合わせによっては、成分の重複や相互作用に注意が必要な場合があります。たとえば甘草を含む処方と一部の利尿薬、麻黄を含む処方と一部の循環器のお薬などです。現在お薬を服用中の方は、自己判断で併用せず、必ず医師・薬剤師にご確認ください。

妊娠中・授乳中でも使えますか？

妊娠中・授乳中は、注意が必要な生薬が含まれる処方があります。当サイトの体質チェックでは、妊娠中・授乳中の方に注意が必要とされる処方を候補から除外する設計にしていますが、これは安全性を保証するものではありません。体質チェックの結果にかかわらず、最終的なご使用の可否は必ず主治医・薬剤師にご相談ください。

体質チェックは医療診断ですか？

いいえ。当サイトの体質チェックは、東洋医学の伝統的な体質観にもとづく「タイプ判定」であり、医師による診断や治療に代わるものではありません。数ある市販漢方の情報のなかから、ご自身に合いそうな候補を絞り込むための一般的な情報ツールとしてご利用ください。

効果はどのくらいで実感できますか？

一概には言えません。処方や体質、症状の経過によって様子の見方は異なるとされています。市販の漢方薬には、添付文書に「服用の目安」（例：1ヶ月位服用しても症状がよくならない場合は服用を中止し、医師・薬剤師に相談）が記載されていますので、それに沿ってご使用ください。長引く場合や悪化する場合は、服用を中止して医療機関にご相談ください。

ヴィーガンでも使えますか？

処方によります。漢方薬のなかには動物由来の生薬（阿膠・牡蛎など）を含むものがあり、また錠剤・カプセルの添加物に動物由来成分が使われる場合もあります。気になる方は、個別の製品の成分をご確認いただくか、薬剤師にお尋ねください。

海外からでも購入できますか？

当サイトでご紹介している市販漢方薬は、日本国内での購入リンク（Amazon.co.jp・楽天市場）をご案内しています。海外への配送可否は販売店・製品によって異なり、また国によって医薬品の持ち込み・輸入に関する規制があります。日本にお住まいでない方は、お住まいの国の規制をご確認ください。症状ガイドやレポートなどの読みもの（PDF）は、どの国からでもご購入いただけます。

漢方とTCM（中医学）の違いは何ですか？

どちらも古代中国の医学を源流としますが、漢方は日本で独自に発展した体系です。日本の漢方薬は、日本の医薬品医療機器等法にもとづき製造販売されており、処方の構成や考え方にも日本独自の特徴があります。当サイトでは、日本の漢方（Kampo）についての情報をお届けしています。

個別の相談はできますか？

現在、個別の医療相談はお受けしていません。当サイトは一般的な情報提供を行うメディアです。LINEやニュースレターでは、養生のヒントやお知らせをお届けしています。将来的には、日本の漢方薬局の情報をご案内する仕組みを準備中です（薬局情報の取り次ぎであり、当サイトが体質や症状を判断して処方を決めるものではありません）。体調に不安がある場合は、医療機関・お近くの薬剤師にご相談ください。

Is Kampo safe?

Kampo medicines are medicines. Like any medicine, they can cause side effects when they don't suit your constitution or condition — 'natural, therefore safe' is not true. OTC Kampo sold in Japan is approved as medicine by the Japanese government, with indications, dosage, and precautions stated in the package insert. Please read the insert carefully, and ask a pharmacist whenever something is unclear.

Can I take Kampo alongside Western medicine?

Some combinations call for care — overlapping ingredients or interactions. For example, formulas containing licorice (kanzo) with certain diuretics, or formulas containing ephedra (mao) with certain heart medications. If you are currently taking any medication, please don't combine them on your own judgment — always check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Can I use Kampo while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Some formulas contain crude drugs that require caution during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Our constitution check is designed to exclude formulas flagged for caution when you tell us you are pregnant or breastfeeding — but this is not a guarantee of safety. Whatever the check shows, please always consult your doctor or pharmacist before use.

Is the constitution check a medical diagnosis?

No. Our constitution check is a 'type reading' based on the traditional East Asian view of constitution — it does not replace diagnosis or treatment by a physician. Please use it as a general information tool for narrowing down candidates among the many OTC Kampo formulas.

How soon will I feel a difference?

There is no single answer — how to observe the course is said to differ by formula, constitution, and how your symptoms unfold. OTC Kampo package inserts include guidance on duration (for example: if symptoms do not improve after about one month, stop taking it and consult a doctor or pharmacist) — please follow that guidance. If things persist or worsen, stop and see a medical professional.

Is Kampo vegan-friendly?

It depends on the formula. Some Kampo formulas contain crude drugs of animal origin (such as ejiao/donkey-hide gelatin or oyster shell), and the excipients in tablets and capsules can also include animal-derived ingredients. If this matters to you, please check the ingredients of the specific product, or ask a pharmacist.

Can I buy from outside Japan?

The OTC Kampo we introduce links to purchase pages within Japan (Amazon.co.jp and Rakuten). Whether a product ships internationally varies by seller and product, and each country has its own rules on importing or carrying in medicines — if you live outside Japan, please check your country's regulations. Our written guides and reports (PDF) can be purchased from anywhere in the world.

What's the difference between Kampo and TCM?

Both trace their roots to ancient Chinese medicine, but Kampo is the system that developed independently in Japan. Japanese Kampo medicines are manufactured and sold under Japan's Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Act, and the composition and philosophy of the formulas carry distinctly Japanese characteristics. This site is about Japanese Kampo.

Can I ask for individual advice?

We do not currently offer individual medical consultation — this site is a medium for general information. On LINE and in our newsletter, we share self-care notes and announcements. In the future, we are preparing a way to share information about Kampo pharmacies in Japan (a relay of pharmacy information — we do not assess your constitution or symptoms to decide a prescription). If you have health concerns, please speak with a medical institution or a pharmacist near you.
